Day 1 Analysis

Score - India - 297/6 in 84.0 overs

Player of the Day - Rahul Dravid

Anil Kumble won the toss and decided that India would bat first on the much talked about Perth track. And the Indian batsman were upto the task as they backed the skipper's decision. Virendra Sehwag got India out to a positive start something they had sorely missed in the first 2 tests. The Perth track failed to live up to all the hype and was no different than the Perth track seen in the last few years. Just as India looked to have made a solid start to the Innings they lost Sehwag and Jaffer in quick succession and the onus was on Dravid- back to his favourite number 3 position and the little master - Sachin Tendulkar

They sure lived up to the expectations and a 139 runs stand meant that India had all the advantage until tea on Day 1. Sachin Tendulkar looked in control from the moment he walked in. There were a few play and misses and credit has to be given the Aussie pacers for bowling some wonderful line and length. Rahul Dravid took his time initially and played some marvelous shots later on.

But then India lost 4 wickets in the final session and the honours of Day 1 were equally shared by both the teams when India could easily had dominated the first day. Most of the wickets were lost to some poor shots. Sachin Tendulkar was once again unlucky - out lbw as Asad Rauf failed to judge the Perth bounce. But a day where a little more caution and India would have had Australia completely under the mat. A glaring change was in the ways Aussies conducted themselves on field. They seemed to be making a conscious effort to look nice and clean on the field - It was kind of funny to see the Aussies in such a avatar - when was the last time you have seen a Aussie bowler apologize to a batsman for a wrong appeal ;)

Anyway Indians would be happy if they could stretch the score somewhere close to 400 tomorrow and then hope that the Indian bowlers adjust to the Perth wicket quickly and pick some quick Aussie wickets

India Vs Australia 3rd Test Match Perth Live Scores and Commentary

After all the stories of boycotts, allegations, counter-allegations, clarifications and much more we finally get back to Cricket. Its been only 10 days since the Sydney Test but a lot of water has passed below the bridge since Ishant Sharma was dismissed by Michael Clarke with about 7 minutes left for the close of play. A lot of things have changed - the catching agreement between the two aptains has been scrapped - now it will be only the umpires who will decide about a legality of a catch and will not ask the fielding team, Mr Bucknor is gone and he has been replaced by Billy Bowden and the Australian team has promised to improve its conduct.

But none of these may have actual bearing on the game as much the 22 yard strip at the WACA. A lot has been said about it and it is supposedly the fastest it has been in the last few years. Australi will be going in with a 4 - pace attack after 16 years. Last time they had a 4 pace attack was at this very ground against the Indians in 1992. A match where Sachin Tendulkar enthralled the Aussie crowds with a brave hundred. Needless to say Australi have a fantastic record on the ground.

As far as team news goes - Indians have left out Harbhajan and Irfan Pathan comes back. Most importantly Sehwag is back at the top for India. Yuvraj Singh has been dropped after failing to impress in the series so far. Dravid will be back at 3 and Laxman at 6. For Autralia Chris Rogers would be making his debut at the top of teh Australian innings in place of the injured Hayden. Also Brad Hogg makes way for Shaun Tait.

Australia would be going all out to win the test and achieve the record of 17 consecutive test wins, while India would be all fired up too after Sydney. Lets hope we have a cracking contest on a beautiful Perth pitch

Day 1 Analysis

Score: Australia - 376/7 in 89.0 overs

Player of the Day - MR Benson, SA Bucknor and BNJ Oxenford - The Umpires

Day 1 belonged completely to the umpires. With 4 shocking decisions, Indians were left to wonder at the end of the day of what could have been. Indian bowlers once again surprised everyone as RP Singh reveled in the opportunity of leading the attack in the absence of the injured Zaheer Khan. He and Harbhajan bowled magnificently and reduced Australia to 134 / 6 at one point. And than the umpires stuck. But laong with that due credit has to be given to Brad Hogg who played an almost flawless innings. Coming in at 134 / 6 he epitomized the Aussie spirit of believing in their own abilities and backing themselves even when the chips are down

Brad Hogg was the more attacking partner in the early stages of that crucial Hogg - Symonds partnership. Indians probably relaxed a bit and Hogg took complete advantage of them. Symonds scored a century but he was dismissed clearly twice en route to that century. He made full use of the opportunities provided to him by the umpires - first as he was clearly caught behind off Ishant Sharma and secondly as the third umpire adjudged him not out even when everyone unanimously could see Symond's feet off the ground as Dhoni dislodged the bails of Anil Kumble

India Vs Australia 2nd Test Match Sydney Live Scores and Commentary

IndianCricketHighlights welcomes you to the coverage of the 2nd test match bein played between India and Australia at Sydney

Will India be able to recover from the second worst defeat against the Aussies they suffered at Melbourne? Will the much acclaimed batting line-up stand up and be counted? Will the bowlers continue their good show? All these questions will be answered in Sydney as the New Year's Test kicks off. Rahul Dravid is almost certain to retain his opening position and India will be hoping that he can regain some of his touch and provide India with a confident start. As if India didn't have enough troubles, Zaheer Khan one of the best bowlers on display in Melbourne has suffered a injury and may miss the match. Irfan Pathan has been named in the 12 man squad and will replace Zaheer just in case he does not recover fully.

Sehwag has been left out once again. If India have to put up any fight in this match its the batsman who will have to take the onus and target a score of at least 400 in the first innings. Indians have a decent record at Sydney and they will be hoping that the Sydney track known to be the best track for spinners in Australia provides some help to Harbhajan and Kumble. Lets hope that everyone chips in and we have a interesting match
